Hillsborough County
Chad Chronister, Sheriff
  • It’s back to school time in Hillsborough County.
It’s time for everyone to be extra careful, especially the motorists. Slow day, be extra aware.
Plenty of children will be walking and biking to school – twice a day.
Pay attention to the school crossing guards. Pay attention to the speed limits. Pay attention to the school buses. Pay attention to the heavy traffic around schools.
When it comes to the lessons of safety and our children, let’s all go for an A!
The bell rings on August 10 to start a new school year. Now more than ever, safety and security is on everyone’s mind.
Rest assured, your peace of mind is part of our mission to protect and serve. State law mandates that we protect every public school, every day.  We will. Period.
From Day 1, all schools will have exceptionally trained, resolute and armed security personnel on campuses.
Detailed on-site surveys of each school, inside and out, provide precision in our rapid response plans.

You have my word: You can count on all of us when and where it matters most.
