    • Major Robert Ura

      Major Robert Ura is an Air Force veteran of Desert Storm having completed three deployments in the Middle East. He was awarded an Air Medal for aerial refueling missions over Iraq. He used the G.I. Bill to attain his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. Upon completion of the Law Enforcement Academy, he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in 1997. He served as a Patrol Deputy, Motor Deputy and Narcotics Detective in the Major Violators Unit. He was assigned to the DEA High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Methamphetamine Task Force from 2001-2002. In 2002, Major Ura joined The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to become a Special Agent assigned to Money Laundering / Drug Trafficking. In 2003 he was reassigned to the DEA Methamphetamine Task Force as FDLE's representative until 2005. In 2005, he was transferred to the Lakeland Field Office and was primarily assigned to the Polk County Sheriff's Homicide Unit. In 2007, he was promoted to Special Agent Supervisor in charge of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force. In 2008, he supervised the first regional Public Integrity Squad, investigating public corruption and officer involved shootings. In 2011, Major Ura rejoined HCSO as a Lieutenant in Detention Services. In 2012, he was promoted to Captain and shortly thereafter transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division. As the Major in charge of the Criminal Investigations Division, he supervises Homicide, Juvenile Services, Auto Theft, Economic Crimes, Violent Crimes, Traffic Homicide, Crime Scene, and the Identification Section. Major Ura is certified in both Corrections and Law Enforcement. He is a graduate of FDLE's Foundational Leadership Program, a certified instructor and has taught numerous law enforcement classes around the state.
