HCSO Seeks Help In Recovering Stolen Medals Awarded to 911 Hero

HCSO detectives are investigating a burglary of a residence on March 6, 2009 in Carrollwood in which part of the property stolen included the Congressional Medal of Valor that was awarded posthumously to Richie Muldowney, a New York City firefighter who died when the World Trade Center towers fell on September 11, 2001. The medals had been in possession of Richie's mother who lives in Carrollwood.

Richie's brother, Brian, a Hillsborough County firefighter, is available to talk about the matter and ask for the public's help in locating the medal which means so much to their family.

Brian Muldowney is available from 1-4 p.m. today at Fire Station 41 on Mapledale Boulevard (off Dale Mabry Highway) in Northdale. Brian will have photographs of the medal and of his brother, and of their family receiving the medal at the White House.

HCSO detectives have arrested two people in connection with the burglary of Mrs. Muldowney:

Carlos Nigel Pierce, DOB 7/8/90

Alicia J. Sanders, DOB 11/18/88

None of the property has been recovered. The investigation continues.
