HCSO Deputies have solved a string of homemade acid bombings that damaged the exteriors of homes in the northwest and northern parts of the county. The devices were fashioned out of plastic bottles, caustic liquid and other material and placed on front porches and sidewalks of homes. In one incident a homemade acid bomb was placed on a vehicle, erupted and damaged the paint. In all incidents the devices exploded and damaged property. Deputy Doug White, a member of the Sheriff's Bomb Squad, is the lead investigator. The Sheriff's Bomb Squad responded to each of the incidents for latent investigations. Some of the homemade bomb material has yielded fingerprints which are being examined. Deputy White said these acid bombs had the potential for serious bodily injury. When activated, the bombs can burn skin, injure eyes and ears, as well as cause other injuries.

Deputies tracked down two adults and one teenager on Thursday, July 30, 2009 and arrested them for one incident. There are at least six incidents connected to the adults at this point. All but one of the incidents are believed to have been random targets of the suspects. The investigations continue.
