Reese was asleep in a bedroom, while the adult female slept in the living room. The following morning at approximately 12:55 a.m., the female was awaken by the suspect forcibly pulling her into the bedroom where he sexually assaulted her. During the assaults, the victim was able to escape out of the residence twice. During each escape, the suspect ran after her and forced her back into the residence where he then assaulted her again.

On the morning of May 2, 2015, the victim waited until the suspect left the residence and she then called a family member who took her to the hospital and reported the incident to the Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived to locate the suspect near the residence he fled on foot from the scene. K-9 Zeus tracked the suspect southeast from 417 Morgan Street in Brandon where he had entered a patio area of a residence in an attempt to hide from deputies. K-9 Zeus tracked the suspect to a wooded area where he refused to comply with the deputy's order to come out from under the heavy brush. K-9 Zeus was able to pull the suspect out of the heavy brush where he was then taken into custody. The suspect was treated at the scene due to the K-9 apprehension.
