    Deputies Arrest Two Wrong-Way Drivers

    Both drivers were charged with Driving Under the Influence.

    Charges: DUI 2nd Conviction, Resisting Officer without Violence


    On April 16, 2016 at approximately 2:07 am, deputies observed a 2003 Ford Expedition driving east on the westbound lane of traffic in the vicinity of 674 Highway and Sammonds Road in Plant City. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Rolando Antonio-Dominguez. Deputies observed signs of impairment and conducted a DUI investigation. Antonio-Dominguez provided two lawful breath samples .199/.197 BAC at CBT. The driver was charged with Driving Under the Influence and No Valid Driver's License. He was also cited for Driving on the wrong side of the road and for having an open container in the vehicle.

    On April 17, 2016 at approximately 10:56 pm, a witness's vehicle was almost struck by a 1993 Ford Thunderbird driven by Jose Perez driving south on the northbound lane of traffic near the intersection of 78th Street South and Progress Boulevard. The witness followed the driver to a gas station at the intersection of 78th Street South and Riverview Drive. The witness made contact with Jose Perez and Perez fled from that location as the witness was calling deputies. A deputy intercepted the Perez's vehicle driving south on Highway 41 and Nina Street. The deputy observed the vehicle driving erratically and followed the vehicle until it entered the driveway at B-6230 Florence Street in Gibsonton. Deputies came in contact with Jose Perez and immediately noticed signs of impairment. Perez refused to perform Field Sobriety Exercises and he was arrested for DUI. Perez was charged with DUI 2nd Conviction and Resist Officer without Violence. He was also cited for having an open container in the vehicle.
