On May 18, 2016 at 4:45 p.m., Adam Millan entered the victim's home as an invited guest to conduct electrical work. He left the residence and advised he would need to return to fix an item he had broken. He returned to the residence a short time later and directed the victim to go to the garage and flip a switch in the electrical panel. The victim went to the panel and the defendant approached her from behind. The defendant put his arm around the victim's neck and pulled her to the ground. The victim observed the defendant was armed with a knife. The victim struggled with the defendant on the ground while screaming for help as the defendant held the victim down and began tearing at her undergarments and shorts. He also attempted to put electrical tape over the victim's mouth as she was screaming. The defendant lost his grip on the knife and dropped it. He then began striking the victim about her face
with his hands several times. Two witnesses nearby heard the struggle and came to the victim's aid, interrupting the attack. The defendant disengaged from the victim and left the scene in his gray, Toyota Corolla. The victim sustained multiple injuries to her face, including a broken nose, and a laceration on her knee which required stitches. The victim was able to identify the defendant as the person that attacked her and had been to her home three weeks prior to provide an estimate. Detectives obtained a warrant for Millan and he was arrested at his residence.
