Hillsborough County, FL - On October 20, 2016 at approximately 12 p.m., suspects Ricardo Marquez-Torres and Thomas Mendez-Urbina drove into the victim's complex and parked near the victim's residence on Kings Point Road inside the Bay West Club Mobile Home Park.
At 1:45 pm, the 83 year old female victim was exiting her residence when Marquez-Torres pushed her back inside her residence. Marquez-Torres then dragged the victim by her hair to the back of her residence where he punched and kicked her and beat her in the head with a metal object while yelling "I'm gonna kill you". Marquez-Torres left the victim in her bedroom and removed a safe from a rear bedroom.
Marquez-Torres fled the residence with the safe but was tackled a short distance from the scene by a maintenance worker. Mendez-Urbina drove away from the scene. Deputies quickly arrived on scene and arrested Marquez-Torres.
Deputies broadcasted an alert and saturated the area looking for the suspect's vehicle. During the search of the area, deputies spotted the suspect's vehicle in the parking lot of a Circle K at Benjamin Road and Johns Road in Town-N-Country. Inside the suspect vehicle were Thomas Neftali Urbina-Mendez and Lamar Jewell.
All three suspects were later booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. The victim was treated for minor injuries. The safe and contents were recovered and returned to the victim.
