    Quarterly Awards Ceremony

    The award ceremony will recognize outstanding personnel as well as community individuals and businesses.

    The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will host its Quarterly Awards Ceremony this Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Falkenburg Road Jail Assembly Room. The award ceremony serves to both highlight outstanding inner office personnel as well as community individuals and businesses that have contributed above the call of duty. Additionally, retirees and long time service employees will be recognized for their service.

    The public and media are encouraged to attend and see the best and brightest our county has to offer. Below is just a highlight of some of the stories we will share and awards we will present.

    Citizen Awards

    • After seeing a home on fire, three men helped pry open the windows on the house and helped save the residents who suffered only minor injuries due to their efforts.
    • A woman will be recognized for selflessly jumping into action after helping a pilot who crashed his helicopter into the roof of a nearby home.
    • While on a home service call, a contractor heard the resident of the home cry for help. He found a female not breathing and he performed CPR. His quick action and thinking is directly responsible for saving the woman's life.

    Business Awards

    • Ultimate Medical Academy will be recognized for their unwavering efforts, to support Deputy Charity Arthur's food pantry project. Thanks to there efforts students and their families receive much needed help at their greatest time of need.
    • While Deputies and Staff were working around the clock during the recent hurricane efforts, Kazbors Corporation was right their with them donating food, beverages and support.
    • Walmart Store #1482, in conjunction with the individual efforts of it's employees, was instrumental in helping the Sheriff's office fulfill its goals during this year's annual school supply drive.

    Life Saving Awards


    • Patrol Deputies will be recognized for diving underwater to rescue a trapped driver. They performed CPR and saved the victim who had not been breathing.
    • Nine Deputies will receive an award for working together to clear an apartment building in the middle of the night as a fire raged out of control.
    • Two Deputies arrived at a drowning call to find a seven month infant not breathing. After they administered first aid, the baby recovered and began breathing unassisted.

    Agency Awards


    • Deputy of the Quarter - During a welfare check, Deputy Ismael Tiburcio rescued a victim and her child from a dangerous home situation.
    • Distinguished Performance Award - Master Deputy Dekle created and raised money for a life-jacket loaner program to encourage boater safety. His program is being used as an example throughout Florida.
