Samuel Morrissey, Jr
Charges: Murder with firearm- 2nd Degree - Felony
Samuel Morrissey was arrested and charged with Murder stemming from a drug transaction that turned violent and ultimately resulted in the death of Grover Wills. On April 15, 2018, Morrissey met with the victim Wills at the Mobil Gas Station located at 612 West Lumsden Road in Brandon at approximately 7:50 p.m. in order to sell him marijuana. The parties arranged to meet using the messenger within a social media platform. Wills attempted to pay for the transaction using counterfeit money wrapped in other legitimate U.S. currency. When the defendant became aware, he attempted to take the drugs back from the victim, a struggle ensued and Morrissey shot Wills one time using a .38 caliber revolver. Wills ran back to his car and an associate drove him to a local hospital where he later died. During the investigation, Morrissey admitted he was meeting the victim for a "transaction" in the parking lot of the gas station and admitted he shot Wills.
