Detectives have apprehended the teenager behind a rash of car vandalism cases in three Riverview neighborhoods.
Michael Robert Hackett,16,was arrested for smashing the windows and scratching the paint on 36 vehicles in the South Fork, South Cove and Summerfield communities in Riverview. One of the vehicles was an HCSO Process Server vehicle. There were 33 victims overall, with total damages estimated to be $10,650.
Hackett drove through the neighborhoods on July 16, between 6-7a.m., damaging vehicles parked in home driveways.
During their investigation, detectives were able to identify Hackett, who is a student at East Bay High School. He has no prior criminal history. Hackett admitted to using his 2006 BMW to commit the offenses. He was charged with one count of Felony Criminal Mischief ($1,000 or greater) and 32 counts of Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief ($200 to less than $1,000). Hackett was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
