On March 8 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a deputy observed a black 2000 Dodge Durango drive into the Joy Food Store located at 10810 41 Highway South in Gibsonton with Alexander Rogue driving. The deputy recognized Rogue and was aware of the probable cause pickup for Grand Theft Auto and the fact that Rogue does not have a valid driver's license. The deputy radioed for assistance.

The deputy entered the Joy Food Store and requested Rogue place his hands behind his back. Roque resisted the deputy's efforts to place him in handcuffs. At around the same time, a detective entered the convenience store and assisted the deputy with placing Rogue into custody. While deputies were placing Roque into custody, Ellen Pride was trying to reach into Roque's front left pocket. Another deputy observing Pride's actions went to place Ellen Pride into custody. Pride pulled away from the deputy as she actively resisted also.

Roque was placed into a marked patrol unit where he continued to kick and make threats to fight and kill the deputies. Roque continued to kick the doors with enough force to cause the upper portion of the door to bow away from the frame. Roque had to be removed and placed into leg shackles for his own safety.

While awaiting a marked unit to transport Pride, Pride was yelling and attempting to pull away from the deputy. Pride was able to pull her right hand free from the handcuffs. Pride bent down and proceeded to bite the deputy through his uniform pants breaking the skin. The deputy secured her a second time. The deputy is back on duty after going to the hospital to be checked out.

Both Pride and Roque were transported to Orient Road Jail.
