The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating the in-custody death of inmate Lewis Harrington II, DOB 3/24/56.
Harrington was booked into the Orient Road Jail on October 27, 2018 at 7:44 p.m. for Driving Under the Influence. He attended First Appearance Court the next morning, where his bond for a prior pending DUI was revoked. Shortly after his court hearing, he was admitted to the clinic at Orient Road Jail and then transferred to the infirmary detox unit at Falkenburg Road Jail at 3:46 p.m. Just after 5:30 p.m., paramedics were alerted when Harrington could not be awakened from his bed. They transported Harrington to Brandon Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:22 p.m. There were no signs of foul play and no indications of physical altercations while he was in either facility. Next of kin was notified late on October 28. The investigation is pending autopsy results from the Medical Examiner's Office.
