On January 2, 2019 at 3:54 p.m., Edward Walker was stopped on his motorcycle behind a 2019 F250, driven by Derrick Rowe, eastbound Lithia Pinecrest Road at Bryant Road. As Walker waited for Rowe to make a left turn into a business, Jeffrey Coe failed to notice the vehicles stopped in front of him and rear-ended the motorcycle. The motorcycle was pushed into the Ford. The impact also projected Walker into the rear of the Ford. After impact, Rowe’s foot came off the brake and the Ford idled eastbound and off the south shoulder to final rest. The motorcycle fell over onto its right side and caught fire. The Dodge truck rotated counterclockwise and overturned, coming to final rest on its left side. Just as the impact occurred, Courson was passing westbound on Lithia Pinecrest Road as debris struck his Cadillac causing minor paint damage. Rowe immediately exited his vehicle and ran back to the crash scene to render aid. A witness noticed Walker hanging on the tailgate of Rowe's truck. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded and rendered advanced life support, but was unsuccessful. Walker died at the scene. Rowe suffered soreness, but was not transported to the hospital. Coe was restrained and was transported to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries. Courson was not injured.
