Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Detectives are conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate previously housed at the Falkenburg Road Jail.
Emergency Medical Services were called to the facility April 5, 2019, just before 9 a.m., after Inmate Alstin Greggory Guice had initiated a confrontation with deputies while trying to force his way out of his cell. Following the altercation, Inmate Guice continued to be combative and uncontrollable and medical intervention was ordered in an attempt to calm him. Shortly thereafter, Inmate Guice appeared to be in medical distress. After jail medical staff and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue stabilized Guice, he was transported to Tampa General Hospital. Inmate Guice passed away at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, April 9th, 2019.
Next of Kin has been notified and they were by his side during his stay at the hospital. The cause of death has not been determined and we are awaiting the results from the Medical Examiner.
