HCSO District 1 Traffic Unit will meet with county engineers and others to assess traffic concerns on parts of Morris Bridge Road.

- Morris Bridge Road
On Tuesday, April 23, beginning at 9:30 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office District I Traffic Unit will meet with county engineers and others to assess traffic concerns on parts Morris Bridge Road where serious traffic crashes frequently occur and discuss adding additional safety measures to the area.
Over the past five years, five fatal accidents and 158 traffic crashes have occurred on Morris Bridge Road in Thonotosassa. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office plans to perform a roadside safety audit on Tuesday, April 23, along with county officials to determine what needs to be done to make the roadway safer.
Members of the HCSO District I Traffic Unit will meet with county engineers and other community traffic safety teams on Morris Bridge Road, between County Line Road and Hawk Hill Drive, to assess what safety measures can be put in place to decrease the number of traffic crashes on the nearly eight mile stretch of road. Possible changes could include lowering the speed limit or adding a shoulder to portions of the road.
"We are committed to making our Hillsborough County roadways safer, and in order to do that, we have to first identify the problem," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "By conducting this roadside safety audit, we will get a better idea of what is contributing to all of these crashes, and hopefully save lives."
