A Message from Sheriff Chad Chronister:

This weekend, you can make your household safer and clean out your medicine cabinet, all at the same time. Saturday, The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is teaming up with law enforcement agencies in Tampa Bay, including the Hillsborough County Sheriff's
Office, for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The 17th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be April 27, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. DEA and its community partners set up drop off sites across the nation where individuals can turn in their unused, unneeded, or expired prescription medications.  Citizens will remain anonymous, with no questions asked.

"We must protect our loved ones from getting ahold of those unwanted, expired medications," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We can't pollute our waterways by dumping it down the toilet. We have to find a proper way to dispose of it. There is no better way than to participate in Drug Enforcement Administration's Drug Take-Back Day. There are no questions asked, you are on your way and we can all feel safer."

Tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid dosage forms will be collected. Liquids, including intravenous solutions, syringes and other sharps, and illegal drugs cannot be dropped off. The drugs collected will be destroyed by DEA at EPA-approved incinerators.
