    Shooting Investigation

    Update #3:

    Upon further investigation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has new findings to release in relation to a deputy-involved shooting last Friday.

    Angel Noel Ramos-Otero (W/M DOB:11-14-1981) died from gunshot wounds after two HCSO deputies shot him when Ramos-Otero refused to drop his knife. Around 1:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a home in Ruskin in reference to a domestic call. It was discovered that Ramos-Otero was sexually battering a juvenile female under the age of 12, which prompted the 911 call from the residence. Further investigation revealed that Ramos-Otero had also recently sexually battered
    another juvenile over the age of 12.

    Ramos-Otero has three prior incarcerations with the Florida Department of Corrections and numerous other arrests dating back to 1996.  Below is a summary of Ramos-Otero's prior charges:

    2008: Aggravated Child Abuse Aggravated Battery

    2009: Aggravated Assault w/ Deadly Weapon, Possession Synthetic Cannabinoid, Possession of Cannabis, Obstructing Officer without, Carrying Concealed Weapon, Introduction of Contraband into Detention Facility *State Prison (2011)*

    Ramos-Otero's next of kin has been notified. No further information is available at this time.

    Update #2:

    The suspect involved in a deputy-involved shooting on Friday morning in Ruskin has died at the hospital. His name is not being released at
    this time as the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office works to notify his next of kin.
     

    Update #1:

    One man is in the hospital and facing a charge of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer following a deputy-involved shooting in Ruskin. Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on the 300 block of Shell Manor Road for a domestic violence call around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

    They came in contact with a 37-year-old white male waving a large knife in the front yard of the home. A woman and several children were inside the home. The man refused to put the knife down and approached deputies in a threatening manner.

    Master Deputy Jessica Ennis and Deputy Daniel DeLima, in fear for their lives, fired multiple shots at the man. He was medevaced from the scene to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

    Master Deputy Ennis, 37, has been with HCSO for 12 years. Deputy DeLima, 25, has been with HCSO for 3 years. The suspect has 30 prior felony charges including Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery, Aggravated Child Abuse and Carjacking. His name is not being released at this time as the investigation continues. He will likely face a charge of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer following this incident.

    As protocol, both deputies involved in the shooting are being placed on administrative leave during the investigation. No further information is available at this time. Any updates will come through Media Alert.

    The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting involving a deputy on the 300 block of Shell Manor Drive in Ruskin. PIO Crystal Clark is en route to the scene to establish a media staging area. Details on a media briefing time are forthcoming.
