LOCATION: 9205 Gibsonton Drive (Walmart)
On August 8, 2019, around 12:30 p.m., deputies were called to the Gibsonton Walmart for reports a man on a golf cart, blocking the liquor store entrance, refusing to leave and demanding to talk with a manager.
Deputies arrived and began speaking to the man on the golf cart, Michael Hudson.
While talking with deputies, Hudson suddenly accelerated the golf cart through the heavily congested pedestrian area in front of the store toward the main entrance nearly striking numerous pedestrians who ran to avoid being hit. Deputies repeatedly ordered Hudson to stop but he continued at a high rate of speed and crashed the golf cart through the glass front doors of the main store entrance. Hudson continued accelerating the golf cart into the checkout area of the store as several patrons were hit and many others jumped out of
the way to avoid being run over.
Hudson ultimately crashed into a cash register and nearby deputies took him into custody. He was transported to TGH. While he has been charge, he has not yet been booked at Orient Road Jail, due to him receiving medical treatment. Hudson's booking photo will become available once he is transported to the jail.
A few customers received treatment at the scene by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, but no customers were transported from the scene to a medical facility.
