The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a threatening statement made in reference to Bellamy Elementary School on Monday.
Around 9 a.m., Andrew Ivan Aman (W/M DOB:12/03/1996
) told a roommate he intended to gain access to Bellamy Elementary School located at 9720 Wilsky Blvd in Tampa, and stab students and staff with a kitchen knife from his home. Aman said he disliked the school because the exterior of the building is painted like an American flag and he has negative views of patriotism towards the United States.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies went to Aman's home to investigate. No firearms were located inside of his residence. Aman, who has been diagnosed with several mental illnesses in the past, was taken for medical evaluation.
An investigation is ongoing and charges could follow, however, there is currently no safety threat for students, parents or staff of Bellamy Elementary.
