The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who robbed a woman at gunpoint on Saturday
morning in the Carrollwood area. The victim, a woman in her 70s, was standing outside of her home feeding neighborhood cats when a black male suspect approached her with a gun demanding money.
The woman handed the suspect a small amount of cash she had in her pocket. The suspect began to walk away, but for an unknown reason, the victim followed him down the road. The suspect turned around and pointed his gun at the woman, telling her to get away. The victim proceeded to slap the gun out of the suspect's hand. The gun fired, striking the woman in her leg.
The suspect fled on foot. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office K-9 and Aviation Units responded to the scene to search for the suspect, described as a young-looking, tall, thin black male. The suspect has not been located at this time.
The victim was taken to St Joseph's Hospital Main with non-life threatening injuries. She is in stable condition.
