    An Arrest Warrant Was Issued In 1999

    A man who was been on the run for more than 20 years, wanted for murder, is now U.S. custody, thanks to the partnership between the FBI and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

    Victim: Pedro Tapia-Lopez, W/M, 01/31/1935
    Suspect: Israel Carrillo, W/M, 09/21/1950
     
    A man who was been on the run for more than 20 years, wanted for murder, is now U.S. custody, thanks to the partnership between the FBI and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

    On May 26, 1998, Pedro Tapia-Lopez was found deceased under a bridge in the area of Boyette Road and Browning Road, next to Fish Hawk Creek in Lithia.

    Tapia-Lopez had been shot multiple times. Blood and a latent palm print were found on the guardrail along the bridge/roadway above his body. The palm print was identified as Israel Carrillo's. Blood was also found in the back of a GMC Jimmy rented to Israel Carillo at the time of this incident. The blood found in the back of the rental vehicle was identified as Pedro Tapia-Lopez's.

    An arrest warrant was issued for Israel Carrillo on 01/14/1999 for Murder in the First Degree. Carrillo was also wanted for an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Battery(issued: 6/4/98).
     
    The FBI followed several leads, and Israel Carrillo was located and arrested in Mexico on 03/27/2019 by Mexican Police. Israel Carrillo was extradited back to the United States on 03/28/2019 and he is now in U.S. custody.
     
    This is an ongoing investigation.
