Major Michael Farrier began his Sheriff's Office career in 1994. He was born in Troy, Ohio but has lived most of his life in Florida and moved to Hillsborough County in 1993. He served honorably in the United States Army, where he completed the Primary Leadership Development Course.
Major Farrier received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1999, a Master of Arts in Adult Education from the University of Phoenix in 2005 and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice specializing in Critical Incident Management from Saint Leo University in 2016.
Major Farrier is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Psychology specializing in Criminology and Justice Studies. Additionally, Major Farrier is a graduate of the 53rd Southern Police Institute Command Officer's Development Course and a 2009 graduate of Leadership Brandon.
Throughout his career Major Farrier has worked all jail facilities and has held positions as Booking Sergeant, Transportation Bureau Commander, Commander of the Department of Detention Services Field Training Officer Program, was on the transition team that assumed control of Misdemeanor Probation Services in 2015, and Deputy Division Commander of Jail Division II.
Major Farrier is married and has three adult children.
